February 2015 – Case Scripting, Our Case Management API

Our second release in February!, this mini-release brings a couple of key-features requested by customers and some smaller tweaks. The main addition within this release is our Case Scripting, Case Management API. Case Scripting allows users to configure scripts which run when cases are opened. This can be used to alert users to certain criteria being met, alter the core SaasCase UI or calculate field values in real-time – the possibilities are endless, we can’t wait to see what you come up with.

We’re working on a better way to organize your data in SaasCase, we’ll be bringing you the concept of Custom Field Tabs in the next month or so, watch this space.

New Features

Case Scripting

Case Scripting allows both simple and complex scripts to be run against case information at the point of opening a case.

An example of usage could be to change elements of the SaasCase system based on values held in fields within a case, e.g. Change a specific tabs color based on the information held in a custom field. It can also support custom logic, integration with other systems and complex calculations.

We’ll be publishing more about this on our new Documentation Wiki soon, but in the meantime, if you have some ideas where you’d like to use Case Scripting Case Management API, just get in touch and we’ll be happy to lend a hand.

Document Previews, PDF Viewing

Many customers send emails into SaasCase’s Email to Case feature or simply upload documents into Case records, many of those documents are in PDF format. To easy access to these documents without downloading to a users local computer, we’ve added in simple PDF document previews so you can quickly get access to document content directly within SaasCase.

Case Type Editing

Customers sometimes open cases and assign them to the wrong Case Type, sometimes a customers Case Type can change during the initial stages of a transaction. We’ve now added the ability to change the Practice Area and Case Type that the case can be associated with to give users full control over their Case Type assignments.

Client Code Editing

Customers sometimes need more fine-grained control over the automatically generated Client Code assigned within SaasCase, in this release we’ve added the ability for Admin users to edit client codes within SaasCase.

Case Locking

This simple feature allows Admin users to lock the core data held within a Case view, in future releases we’ll be extending the locking feature to other key tabs within the Case view within SaasCase.

This feature will remove the Edit functions for standard users that are currently enabled when clicking on the Case Edit button.

Contact Locking

Similar to Case Locking, this simple feature allows Admin users to lock the core data within a Contact’s record. In future releases we’ll be extending the locking feature to other key tabs within the Contact view within SaasCase.

This feature will remove the Edit functions for standard users that are currently enabled when clicking on the Contact Edit button.
